I am very mucg confused about the functioning and usage of agent.cfg and pdf.conf file.
Which one should i use to limit the bandwidth.
I gotta limit the bandwidth for duplication to 5MB/sec.
How should i proceed ?

Setup storage server load balancing for dedupe pool
nbu01 and nbu02
setup SLP backup to disk then duplicate to tape
both nbu01 and nbu02 connected to the same tape library ofcourse with SSO enable
All backup and duplication went well but found out that during duplication to tape, always server nbu01 trigger to job even the tape storage unit is connected to nbu02.
I want to know if duplication job trigger from nbu01, let say backup image is 100GB, from the dedupe guide, it say that it will always rehydrate the data where the dedupe pool server is, so means nbu02, so do this means that it will send 100GB data to nbu01, then nbu01 will send back 100GB of data back to nbu02, because i select tape storage unit that connected to the nbu02, and write to tape.
If above is true, means my bottleneck will be at the LAN, and how do i force only use nbu02 during duplication job.
I also planning to remove the load balancing, since i dont see much help on the backup and duplication, but i still have job queuing for duplication.
If i inactive those job, remove the nbu01 from the load balancing, and activate backup duplication, will the duplication job still look for nbu01 ?
or i need to cancel all job, and do manual duplication ?

Hi, new to PD, can anyone tell me if a change to the local admin credential on a PD client will impact the backups of that client ? Is the local admin PW/credential used/stored anywhere in PD or will it just continue happily ?

Hello All.
We have a backup solution based on two W2008R2 servers running NetBackup 7.0.1 with MSDP feature.
We have a critical mistake in build (wrong drive used for MSDP DB) and we are looking the way to sort it out. Symantec support denied us.
crcontrol command has three keys that could help us to backup this DB, reconfigure CR and restore DB to correct drive. But there is no info in --help about those keys (PSB). Checked deduplication/NetBackup commands manuals - no luck.
Could somebody provide a manual which describes those keys?

Hi All.
I am creating the pure disk deduplication pool.
When i run the Storage server wizard, I select pure disk deduplication pool.
Next and then i select the pur disk server.
Next.but after that no volume name comes up on the console.
This is a pure disk deduplication pool.We have a separate server fpr pure disk and not a media server.
Here's my situation:
My company purchased another company at the end of last year. We inherited 2 PureDisk servers that are running PDLinux on Dell hardware. We need to get to the data on these servers so we can back it up and then decom the boxes. I have been able to get into the Linux machine itself and then get the web console up but it won't take any of my credentials (including the local root account on the box). It looks like the data partition for the backups is protected and can only be viewed through PureDisk (have not been able to mount the drive in linux, etc).
So the short of it is I need credentials to login to the web console so I can access the data on the server. How can I go about this?
These are running 6.6 which of course is EOL and I'd prefer not to purchase a whole new license just to get some technical support from Symantec directly.

Trying to configure deduplication in a multi netbackup environment but getting error media write error 84( Optimised duplication not supported when source and target server are the same) Dont know what i m doing wrong..Below is the environment..
1-Two netbackup server's both are configured as master and media server..both having different MSDP configured..
2-if i removed the deduplication and configured replication only then it works fine, but whenever deduplication is configuring getting error media write error 84..
3-Attaching the snapshot of SLP..I think i m not able to configured target server in SLP..i read lot of docs but nothing works

So let's say I have a local master server "master1" and a local media server "media1" and a remote media server (DR) "remotemedia1".
I currently have both "media1" and "remotemedia1" set up as puredisk server with MSDP.
So when I do catalog backup, I have my 1st copy backup to "media1" then duplicate to "remotemedia1".
Now, let's say my local environment has been completely destroyed - so we need a DR !
** 1st thing I do is def rebuilding my master server. Now I will have to connect "master1" to "remotemedia1" .... since master1 is newly rebuilt, the previous relationship was broken. Does anyone know how I can reestablish this so I can do Catalog restore from the puredisk pool of remotemedia1?

it was windows 2008 r1 Client backup is failing with system state(completing with 64%), and getting below errors.
Error: 2: resource child process: snapshot required but there is nothing to snap: no such object
Error: 2: name process: unable to process 'Shadow?Copy?Components': no such object
troubleshooting steps:
We have been checked all writers are in stable state, But still backup is failing with system state error.
Kindly let us know what was the next troubleshooting step to proceed from here.
pure disk version is V6.6.4

We are using NetBackup 7.6.0.1 on Windows
We are moving our deduplication to other disks for better performance. We have two disk pools, all the images have been duplicated to tape. I have followed this technote:

and have got to the point to delete the disk pools. One disk pool was deleted without any issues however the second reports the following
"unable to delete the disk pool. Unable to process request because the server resources are busy. Disk pool cannot be deleted because Disk Volume (PureDiskVolume) contains images"
All images have been expired from the catalogue
I have run the gargage collection using the following technote
